Magallanes Lawn Tennis Club trainings begin to approach normality

SEven though tennis had returned to training, through a special permit granted by the Ministry of Health to the Punta Arenas commune, thanks to the management of the Magallanes Sportsmen’s Committee, by advancing Punta Arenas to phase three it is possible extend training schedules, especially in what respect to weekends, given the large number of adult and child tennis players for wanting to be in the rectangle of play.

Given these experiences, we spoke with Iván Sandoval, part of the technical staff of Magallanes Lawn Tennis Club, who referred to the return of the works in phase three and how they are projected for this year.

“We started working a few weeks ago with the advance to phase 2. This is thanks to the steps taken through the Magallanes Sportsmen’s Committee. During this time there has been a great interest in playing tennis, so the advance to phase 3 allows to play during the weekend; it is certainly great news ”.

-How did you each of his tennis players received this privilege of return to the game rectangle?

“Despite everything in this year and a half, where there have been prolonged closings and sporadic openings, there has been a greater interest in doing physical activity. Along these lines, not only the minors have shown a desire to learn, but also adult people who want to learn a new sport ”.

-In this same scenario, how have you planned each of the training sessions considering the number of tennis players and the court spaces?

“It has been a challenge to plan the theme of the classes. Each phase allows a certain number of people per court; likewise, the setbacks and the curfew start time limit more classes.

Sometimes one feels that common sense is lacking in decision-making, since in roofed sports venues we have ample spaces and the capacity is very limited compared to other activities ”.

-Ivan, huntil before the pandemic there was athletes who had reached a great tennis level and due to the Covid have regressed in their development. ¿DHow do you plan and work to regain that level?

“First we must achieve continuity in the face-to-face training, because rechen this year we were able to return and we worked for three months. Obviously all of us who work in sport want our deportistas to compete again, but we must be cautious with the health situation. As travel becomes complicated, the path should be that of internal competition. But, I insist, more hours of training must be obtained to be able to plan in a better way ”.

¿Hacia ofnde points out the work of the MLTC parto the future and the rest of the year?

“The board of directors and members of our prestigious club have had and we have a special interest in the development of the school, training our team. It is there where our future tennis players begin to grow, who will have the responsibility of representing the MLTC in regional and national tournaments.

Also giving emphasis to the creation of adult schools and thus have quadmore competitive rosters in the various categories, which will allow us to continue growing as an institution ”.
