With the support of her family, from an early age she has had the opportunity to try and practice various sports. Especially when she was young, her parents accompanied her, even if it took effort, giving her a hand to buy what she needed, taking her to practice or compete.
Antonella Spinoglio divides her day between university studies, work at a high school as an attached and training hours.
He does not remember when his passion for sports began, but he does remember to practice at all times: riding his bike, skating on the paved street of the neighborhood, swimming, or going to the athletics track with the school.
Hockey came into his life at the age of 19. “From the first class I felt the need to continue, and that barely moved on the skates, because I had not skated for years; not even think of coordinating with a stick and a yew. But we started with two friends to go on Saturdays and we didn’t stop until today, it was Saturday, Sunday, weekday, on a field or on the track in the Rodó Park, we always found a way to practice and continue to live hockey ”, she says.
Why the choice of roller hockey, a sport little practiced in our country?
In hockey I found myself in a way that hadn’t happened to me before. I wanted to try it since I was a girl, looking Rocket Power (animated series released in 1999). He started at the Chivitos hockey school in 2013, when he was 19 years old. She knows that prejudice for women who practice discipline may exist, but she does not weigh down. “There will always be peculiarities, and I understand that gender discrimination in sport exists because it is in society as a whole, but there is a stable group of women in hockey who are determined that the category should grow formally and that it be taken with the same seriousness. than the masculine one, it is something that we build day by day. In addition, the League always had and has the interest that we all participate, so this is promoted, participation beyond gender ”. Anyway, he values: “In this matter, there is always work to be done.”
Another possible drawback at first glance is that for many it can be an expensive and not very accessible sport. “All teams always have their doors open to new players, because we all start like this: with gloves, a stick and a helmet borrowed from other people. If you take a liking to it, then it’s hard to walk away ”, says Antonella about it.
